“The end of THE END is the best place to begin THE END, because if you read THE END from the beginning of the beginning of THE END to the end of the end of THE END, you will arrive at the end.”
All good things must come to an end. So my 6 weeks of vacation ended and brought me back to start a new job in Korea. The first time I came to Korea it was so exciting! Everything was new and ready for me to discover. This time home was the vacation and Korea was work.
So I've been back to work for about 2 months now. Here are my new babies!!! From left to right: Rachel, Kitty, Alice, Jun, Eloise, Lyla, Sophia, and Hansa. They are 6 years old and most days adorable. This picture was from my first day with them.
One of the best things about teaching kindergarten is that I get to go on field trips! We went to this amazing park where the kids just got to run free for 4 hours.
These were taken on the bus ride to the park. My kids are the snowy owl class. Lindsey's, the blond teacher in the right picture, class is the sloths and shared the bus with us.
The teachers might have enjoyed this slide more than the children. This is Klarise who is from South Africa and Lindsey from Canada.
How cool is this playground?
Can you tell who the diplomatic/bossy one is?
They are picking who is "it" for hide and seek.
This is Jun, he might be my favorite. He's my only boy and the most sane in the class.
In kindergarten you also get random presents, like this marker. When Alice gave it to me she said, "Its not even drying yet!"
Birthdays are also very big deals in kindergarten. Once a month we have a school wide birthday party. In November two of my kids had birthdays, Jun and Sophia.
This picture also shows the other foreign teachers and some of the Korean staff: Top row: Klarise, Lindsey, Paula (owner and principal). Bottom row: Travis, Jennifer, Cassie, Jina, Gabby, and me
How adorable is the princess dress and bow-tie?
His dimple gets me every time!
Besides field trips my favorite part of kindergarten is being able to decorate my classroom for holidays and seasons. We of course made hand turkeys and a banner.
Thanksgiving day the classes paired up and cooked a Thanksgiving dish. My class and the 4 year old class cooked sweet potatoes with marshmallows on top. The other classes cooked mashed potatoes and pumpkin pie parfaits. Added to our feast were roast chickens, fried dumplings, apples, kiwi, and bananas.
We also made turkey hats!
I have now quickly switched gears and am ready for Christmas! Look at my awesome tree! I am very proud of how cool this looks!
Every class is named after and animal. My class is the snowy owls. We also have the sloths, beluga whales, seas lions, koalas, and pandas. I found this adorable craft on pinterest and decided we had to do it.
We also made adorable "stained glass" ornaments to decorate our window. Unfortunately my elementary aged kids told me they look like bombs.
Being back has definitely not been the easiest of transitions. This school is much closer to being a real teacher like in the states, a lot more work. I usually come into school at least an hour before it begins and I will stay 30 minutes to an hour after school to finish things up. Overall I am happy with my decision to move schools. No school or job will ever be perfect but I think kindergarten is the place for me!
